This summer has been pretty meh so far, but we’re not that bothered because we are SO EXCITED for our Fall collections to start arriving! Not only are we expecting some amazing stuff from the designers we carried in Spring/Summer, but we’re adding a few new collections that you will love just as much, we promise. Here’s a little intro to the new kids on our block:
Hansel from Basel is an L.A.-based hosiery company founded by Hannah Byun. She designs unique, whimsical socks and tights that are as high-quality as they are fun to wear.
A.P.C. founder Jean Touitou joined forces with Jessica Ogden in 2002 to create Madras, a collection inspired by a trip to India. The pieces combine beautiful fabrics and prints with the timeless designs that A.P.C. is renowned for.
Bodkin is an NYC-based collection designed in accordance with principles of sustainability in materials and production methods. Designer Eviana Hartman creates classic yet forward-thinking pieces using organic cotton and wool and recycled fibers.
A small, directional footwear brand based in London, F-Troupe uses British historical and functional influences to develop original, innovative shoes.
Have you heard about Frugal Fashion Week? It starts today and involves lots of special events in the West Queen West area, including a launch party tomorrow night at The Social and a brunch on Saturday at the Drake.
There’s also a Shop Crawl this weekend and we’re one of the many stores taking part… All of our sale stuff will be an extra 10% off on Saturday and Sunday, and regular-priced items (excluding artwork) will also be 10% off.
Two days only, you guys – see you this weekend!

So ummm this has nothing to do with the shop, except that Robin and I both love ourselves some mojitos in the summer. So we asked our friend Sarah, muddler of the best mojitos around, if she wouldn’t mind sharing her recipe so you guys can enjoy them too! Keep a-scrollin’…
In a two liter pitcher muddle together:
a good big handful of mint leaves (washed and drained) (1 C)
1/2 C freshly squeezed lime juice…(veer far away from “real lime”)
1/3 C loosely packed brown sugar
Fill the pitcher half way with ice and pour over 1 1/2 C rum (we love Havana Club Riserva, an amber). Top with soda (about 4 C?) and stir well, from the bottom up, making sure the sugar is dissolved.
Delicious side notes:
*mojitos are best enjoyed on Mondays
*when muddling, try adding fresh raspberries or watermelon
Some of our lovely SALE items have been featured in a couple of Eye Weekly articles lately, and we thought you might like to check them out…
Look, we’re a hippie store! This week’s spread features the Sunshine & Shadow hand-dyed silk scarves in olive/yellow stripes and purple windowpanes (on heads here, but they’re also great around necks):
And last week the inspiration was French New Wave cinema, aka stripes stripes stripes, and this Sunja Link raglan sleeve dress (on the right; Jean Seberg in Breathless on the left) fit the bill nicely:
Just a couple of each left, come have a look!
